5 Spots in the West of Ireland To Celebrate National Ice Cream Day

5 Spots in the West of Ireland To Celebrate National Ice Cream Day
This Sunday July 19th is National Ice Cream Day – which means there's no excuse not to treat yourself!

This corner of the country is home to some amazing ice cream shops too, many who use ingredients found right here in the West. We've picked five favourites so you can get your cone (or your cup!) this weekend to celebrate the day that's in it.

Murphy's

Just as you enter the Latin Quarter, a line wrapping around the corner will let you know you’ve reached Murphy’s. With their twelve iconic homemade flavours and highly-praised customer service, their ice cream is worth the wait.

Plus, it's all made in Dingle with free range eggs, fresh farm milk, local cream and organic sugar.

Café Linalla

Located in New Quay, Cafe Linnalla’s artisan ice cream is made in the Burren with milk and cream from their own cows and local ingredients. It's also egg and gluten free.

Their ice cream follows the seasons, so stop in this weekend for some lovely mixed berry and other summery flavours.

Meltd

Fun fact: Meltd is one of the few places in the West where you can pick up the cult Irish popsicle brand Kahuna Pops. They're a family-run small business, and all pops are made with fresh fruit, organic milk and maple syrup.

Meltd have shops in both Barna and Galway City, and also serve their own delicious ice cream with a fresh New York-style cookie on the side.

Gino's Gelato

It may be authentic Italian gelato, but did you know Gino’s Gelato is made using organic Irish milk?

Located Galway and in Westport, Gino's have been operating across the country for over a decade, and for good reason. They've a great variety and you can get your gelato in a cup, cone, or even a waffle.

Wild Churn

Fresh on the Galway sweet treat scene, Wild Churn are bringing their take on authentic gelato to Galway.

With flavourful sorbet and rich gelato, it's a great spot to grab an ice cream with kiddos and friends before strolling along the Long Walk.
