My absolute must-have SPF for holidays (or the Irish sunshine!) is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50+. It's one of the only SPFs I completely trust on my face and neck when I'm sunbathing or spending long periods in direct sunlight.

The lightweight, runny fluid applies easily and feels comfortable on my skin. Make-up sits nicely on top too. I also love the subtle glow it gives. The bottle itself is the perfect size to throw into your beach bag or handbag before heading out for the day. €21, available at Feelys Pharmacy.

Several months ago now, Elysium guru Valerie Osborne put me on to the benefits of zinc oxide-based SPF in general (zinc oxide being one of the few single ingredients that can block the full UVA and UVB spectrum on its own), and Colorescience’s Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50 specifically.

I had fears of a thick, goopy cream and chalky, shiny finish but it was astoundingly lightweight with a flattering, glow-y tint. Since then, several beauty editors (who get sent hoards of SPFs) have told me it’s one of the few products they repeat buy. €59, availble from Elysium

For a few months I've been using the Supergoop! Glowscreen in the shade Golden Hour and boy do I love it. When my free birthday sample ran out, I immediately went to buy a full tube. After a friend gifted me a face cream from Korean skincare brand Beauty of Joseon and I instantly fell in love, I knew I had to try their cult-favourite SPF. The Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ has a gorgeous texture. It's creamy without feeling suffocating, very nourishing on the skin, and leaves no white cast.

I discovered Genosys Ultrashield SPF 50 at Laserderm Clinic in Loughrea. Unlike many SPFs, it's very moisturising and leaves a dewy finish. My skin is prone to mild psoriasis and dermatitis, and I find this product very gentle yet effective.
