Three West of Ireland Serums to Try this Autumn

Three West of Ireland Serums to Try this Autumn
Our favourite tried-and-tested serums from West of Ireland skincare brands.

I was cycling through the Westend last week and marveled once again at just how many seasons we get in a day, especially in the autumn, here in the west; in a 15-minute cycle, I saw gorgeous blazing sunshine, got fairly drenched by a surprise shower then arrived home with pink cheeks from the wind, which was beginning to show signs of its winter nip.

It’s just one of the reasons us West of Ireland-based gals need to give our skin plenty of TLC as the colder months draw in, and why some of the very best serums to be found on our island are made by incredible skincare brands here in the west.

Here are three brilliant, Irish made skin-loving serums to have on your radar.

The botanical one

Key ingredients: sandalwood and frankincense

Why we love it: I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at The Burren Perfumery’s new botanical serum before its release this month and fell for it immediately. With a divine scent, it’s lightweight enough to be quickly and easily absorbed but rich enough to leave my skin feeling deeply nourished.

Great for: Oily to combination skin, older skin, fine lines.

The everyday hero

Key ingredients: Fucus serratus (seaweed) and jojoba oil

Why we love it: Organic, vegan and cruelty-free, this seaweed-powered serum hydrates and strengthens, all while protecting your skin’s natural barrier.

Great for: Fine lines and wrinkles, travel (Voya does a handy mini version).

The award-winner

Key ingredients: Rosehip oil, aloe vera, sea buckthorn

Why we love it: A serum that’s so deeply nourishing and hydrating that I often find I don’t even need to layer moisturiser over it.

Great for: Dry skin, every day use.
