June in Galway: The Best Bits To See And Do This Month
Summer is officially here, and our calendars are about to be bursting with all of the gorgeous cultural events and goings-on happening in Galway.

We've combed through all of the fabulous events and activities lined up for June, so you can enjoy a curated edit of shows, workshops and events. Here's what's worth booking.

For the creatives

The night out: Le Chéile

On Monday 8th June from 7-9pm, Dárog Wine Bar will host Le Chéile, an intimate evening of wine, art and creative conversation led by artists Siobhán Moore and Edel Lukács. Find out more here.

The workshop: book-binding with Eimearjean McCormack

If you've ever thought of producing your own book or catalogue, The Studio Galway are offering you the chance to try. Graphic artist Eimearjean McCormack, pictured top, will lead an entry level book-binding workshop on Sunday, 14th June from 10-5pm. Book here.

The exhibition: Hermetics

Worth popping into this month is ongoing exhibition Hermetics: How Painters Think at Outset Gallery. Its a vibrant mixed media group show exploring the idea of “aesthetic nomadism”.

For the music lovers

The Galway Folk Festival is back with a gorgeous line-up this month from 3rd-7th June, including the likes of Lisa O'Neill, Damien Dempsey and Hothouse Flowers. While some gigs are free, popular acts are ticketed, so make sure to book as soon as possible if you want to see the aforementioned.

Later in the month on Saturday 20th, Charlie McGettigan and The Henry Girls will take to the stage at Father Burke Park for a brilliant show at Galway Uke Fest.

For the storytellers

On June 3rd the emotive storytelling event Seanchoiche will host an event in Monroes as part of the Galway Folk Festival. The theme for the night is "Memories" – we recommend bringing tissues! Buy tickets here.

Bestselling author Maggie O'Farrell will join Kenny's Bookshop at the Black Box Theatre on June 17th, to discuss her new novel Land. The historical fiction is set on the west coast of Ireland and is already pulling in five-star reviews left right and centre. A handful of tickets left at the time of writing, here.

For the family

Celebrating the wonderful youth of Galway this month is Cruinniú na nÓg: Youth Lates, on 6th June. From musical workshops and circus performances to puppet shows and live performances, you'll be spoiled for choice. And it's totally free!

On 28th June, Corrandulla Show will return with fun for all the family. There'll be lovely foodie bits, arts and crafts, a pony show and more. See more info on their Instagram.

For the singles

If you're looking for love this Summer, live dating event Date My Mate might be the one for you. On the 18th June, people will share creative PowerPoints showing off their single friends to a crowd in Monroes. It's bound to be hilarious, and potentially very rewarding! Find out more here.
