Back for another season of winter magic, Galway City Ice Skating returns to Leisureland, running until January 14th. Whether you’re a seasoned skater, or more like bambi on ice, lace up your skates and enjoy the festive atmosphere as you (attempt to) glide across the ice with grace. 

Discover talented artists at Outset OXO

Running until the 25th of January, Outset will host Ireland's largest open-call Christmas exhibition in the Cornstone featuring an impressive array of artworks from over 120 artists. Whether you want to nab the perfect piece for your home or are looking for a unique gift, Outset’s OXO is your one stop shop to discover talented local artists and support Galways’ creative scene.

Wander the new Westend Christmas market

Christmas Market Down the West makes its debut this festive season, promising a whole month of cosy Christmas fun. Open daily until the 23rd of December, this indoor market, located in Silke’s Cash & Carry is perfect for those rainy winter days. Featuring live, traditional music and a vast range of beautifully decorated stalls offering everything from festive treats to unique artworks, the Christmas spirit is sure to be running high. 

Have A Very Merry Craicmas

Sing Over Social takes over Roisín Dubh on December 20th for a fun and festive night of low-commitment sing-along songs. Expect all sorts of Christmas chaos with music from Cher, Mariah and Wham, and all your favourite Christmas pop hits as you dance the night away with zero judgement. Tickets can be purchased here.

Support local at the Tiny Traders market

The Tiny Traders Village Christmas Market returns this year, bigger than ever, running through to December 19th with two units in Edward square and a pop up in Eyre Square shopping centre. Shoppers can expect artisan treats, cool vintage finds, unique jewellery, handmade gifts and much more. Support local artists, producers and small businesses this Christmas while ticking off your Christmas shopping list.

Explore Elf Town with the kids

Galway’s spectacular Elf Town returns to the racecourse this Christmas, running right through to December 23rd. Spread across three floors, highlights include baking cookies with Mrs Clause, a trip on the Elf Town Express and meeting Santa and his reindeer. This magical experience is one the kids will never forget. 

Take a cold dip for Cope

If you’re brave enough to chance a frosty dip in Salthill, the annual Christmas Swim for Cope is a brilliant cause to support. Join in with hundreds of supporters on December 25th for a morning dip at Blackrock pier. Registration costs €20 and all funds raised will go towards Cope Galway. 

Enjoy the Eyre Square Christmas Markets

Whether you love them or hate them, nothing screams festive spirit like the Eyre Square Christmas Markets. Enjoy the twinkling lights and festive music as you sip on a delicious hot chocolate or warming mulled wine. Highlights include the magnificent view of the city at the top of the Big Wheel, knocking back a stein at the beer tent and sampling the holiday treats at various stalls, from apple crumble to chimney cakes. 

Gather the family at Brigit's Garden

Gather the family and head to Brigit’s Garden for a magical winter wonderland experience, running from 13th-21st December. Enjoy a music show with Santa and Elfeena, a festive treasure hunt and make a wish at the Christmas tree. Each family will be gifted a special candle to light on Christmas Eve, combining heart-warming tradition with festive fun.

Set to take place on December 8th at The Connacht Hotel, this brass crafting workshop is perfect for those who want to add a personal touch to their Christmas tree. Guided by skilled crafter Clarence, attendees will create their own unique festive decoration to take home, with all materials provided.
