Everything to Look Forward to on the TG4 Autumn Line-Up

As the evenings get darker and our desire to put the feet up ever stronger, we’ve rounded up some highlights from this season’s schedule for you to enjoy.

CRÁ

TG4’s hit drama series Crá returns, following Garda Conall as he tries to get to the bottom of his mother’s murder by joining forces with young journalist and aspiring podcaster Ciara-Kate. 

There’s plenty of twists and turns, beautiful Donegal scenery and impressive performances. And if you missed the first season, you can catch up on the player.

Aperitíf

Brand new dating show Aperitíf arrives this autumn with an absurd but undoubtedly entertaining format; inviting hopeful romantics to a three course meal with a new potential match for each course. 

By the end of the meal, the participant can choose who they connected with the most; their starter, dinner or dessert companion!

An Mháthair 

For a dark and intriguing watch, An Mháthair is a captivating short drama that centres on a grieving mother who is confronted by the young man responsible for her son's death.

IFTA nominated actress Simone Kirby from Ennis plays the protagonist, and stars alongside newcomer Oisín Thompson.

Ár gCluiche Féin

Also featuring Oisín Thompson alongside Cormac De Bhál, award-winning short film Ár gCluiche Féin is one for the Heated Rivalry fans.

From a female-led creative team, the story follows two young Gaelic footballers navigating a secret romance shaped by traditional masculinity and unspoken rules.

Réalt na Mara – An Peil, Na Triblóidí agus an Iarmhairt

For those interested in powerful true stories, Réalt na Mara is an extraordinary documentary that stems from the cross-community football team Bobby Sands played on in the sixties. 

Decades later, members of the team reflect on the different paths they took in life, and the ongoing tragedies caused by the Troubles. Expect a raw, honest and heart-wrenching watch.   

Conamara – Idir Chnoc agus Cladach

Another documentary well worth the watch is Conamara – Idir Chnoc agus Cladach. If you're in the mood to appreciate the culture and the beauty of the West of Ireland, this is the one.

It will explore how the dramatic terrain of the west coast shapes the music, stories, and livelihoods of the people who live there.

Gníomhaí

In Gníomhaí, musician and activist Oisín Mac travels across the country to investigate what inspires people to engage in social and political activism in contemporary Ireland.

You may recognise Oisín from his Irish language songs, often played on Raidió na Gaeltachta – and one of which (An Saol Rúnda) is on the current Junior Certificate syllabus!

Spriocanna Saoil

In Spriocanna Saoil, presenter Caoimhe Ní Chathail will examine the various pressures faced by young Irish people today.

From relationships and family dynamics to a greater purpose and the expectation to have life all figured out, Caoimhe digs deep on contemporary Irish culture.
