Introducing the Autumn Issue
A warm welcome to our autumn issue, a feast of different tastes, voices and inspiring ideas for the season ahead.
Autumn is, without a doubt, my favourite season to be here. So much of what the west does best comes to fruition in the autumn – from heritage woolcraft to seasonal flavours (think native oysters and freshly foraged mushrooms) and those postcard perfect Connemara landscapes, there is so much to celebrate and enjoy.
In this issue, hear from some of the incredible people leading our region’s farm to fork (and tide to table) endeavours and highlights nine amazing ways to savour the season.
We also travel to Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands, where native Megan Roantree meets with five local creatives to discover why the island should be on your to visit list.
Then there’s our cover star Niamh Regan, above, photographed in the beautiful and wild surrounds of the Burren Nature Sanctuary. There’s a quiet confidence, a calm, clear- eyed authenticity that you can’t help but fall for and her insightful, intimate folk songs are the perfect accompaniment to the issue. She talks to us about navigating the infamously tricky second album.
We also have a new season style, a beautiful Salthill renovation and a guide to making friends – a challenge in any city, even one as famously friendly as ours.
Enjoy the issue,
Nathalie
