If even the thought of glam camping gives you pause, the location of Podumna Glamping Village in Portumna, Galway will put you right at ease. Ireland's first urban glamping spot, it's unique in that it offers a cosy, woodland camping experience in a central town location – so you're never far from a restaurant or a supermarket if you need.

Family run, with an eco-friendly ethos, they offer pods and cabins (no tents in sight!) with luxury bedding, USB ports and private decking areas. It's ideal for parties and large groups, though brides-to-be should note that hen parties will have to book full exclusivity of the space.

Pure Space Glamping, Clare

Glamping and yoga retreat Pure Space is the perfect spot for a total and utter detox. Set in ten acres of native woodland on the Loop Head Peninsula in Clare, they offer off-grid cabins and fully furnished bell tents alongside an on-site yoga studio.

Just fifteen minutes walk from the sea, you can spend your days swimming in the ocean, relaxing in their wood-fired sauna, doing meditative yoga sessions and eating dinner al fresco.

Ox Mountain Treehouse

Ox Mountain Glamping in Sligo offer a number of unique accommodation options, from a double decker bus and an ex-hire cruiser to the quaint treehouse pictured above. Surrounded by peaceful woodland, the treehouse sleeps up to four guests and has a kitchenette, stove and satellite TV for movie nights.

A particular highlight of this stay is the outdoor hammocks, where you can sway among the rustling of the trees and listen to the flowing stream below.

Aran Islands Glamping

It's hard to beat the breathtaking surroundings of Inis Mór, and when you're glamping right on the coastline you feel like you're at one with the landscape. Aran Islands Glamping is host to a number of glamping pods right by the water, inspired by the stone huts inhabited by monks in the late 5th century.

Each pod comes with a separate shower room and mini kitchen, and guests can enjoyed a shared picnic area with a barbecue, private beach access and saunas. Aside from the spectacular scenery, activities like horse riding, cycling, fishing and walking tours can all be enjoyed just a stones throw away.

Calling all Lord of the Rings fans! Perhaps the most unusual of all the glamping sites across Ireland, the hobbit huts at Mayo Glamping in Castlebar offer a staycation well suited for fantasy lovers. These gorgeous stone huts come with their own outdoor fire pit for toasting marshmallows, and a wood-fired pizza oven nearby makes dinner a no-brainer.

Westport Glamping Village

If you're looking for a glamping experience that leans more luxury, Westport Glamping Village is the way to go. Set within the beautiful 400-acre historical estate of Westport House, they have a range of beautiful bell tents kitted out with WiFi, comfortable beds, lockers, lamps and a picnic basket.

Connemara Glamping

Connemara Glamping are bringing the indoors outdoors with their large safari style tents! They come with spacious verandahs, king size beds (with hotel quality duvets), and luxury en-suite bathrooms.
