With temperatures set to climb this weekend, head to one of these seven outdoor spots to soak it in (but don't forget the SPF!).

O'Connell's for Dough Bros pizza

Best known as the setting for Ed Sheeran’s Galway Girl video, O’Connell’s is more than a historic pub – its spacious beer garden is where the magic happens on a sunny day.

Decorated with quirky shopfronts and lined with TVs showing the match, it’s a vibrant spot often accompanied by live music. If you’re craving Dough Bros pizza but not the queue, you’re in luck, as they serve the same legendary slices here. The Terrace at Ballynahinch

When you're looking to escape to Connemara for the day, Ballynahinch Castle is a serene place to stop for lunch. Nestled beside a bend in the river and framed by woodlands, it now features a beautiful new terrace designed for long leisurely afternoons, framed by by acres of woodland and gardens.

The retractable roof lets in the sun, and the riverside views, marble-topped tables, and plush chairs create a charming and relaxing atmosphere. Head Chef Danni Barry serves a fresh, elegant menu featuring oysters, caviar, seafood platters, lobster rolls, prawn cocktails, carpaccio, spaghetella and vibrant salads. Lunch is served daily from 12.30 to 4pm.

Basilico

Basilico brings a true taste of Italy to Oranmore, combining authentic Mediterranean flavours with warm, professional service and great value. The extensive a la carte menu caters to all tastes and budgets, with creative daily specials and a dedicated kids’ menu.

The Aviary at the Connacht hotel

For those days when the Galway weather can’t quite make up its mind, The Aviary at The Connacht Hotel offers the perfect compromise. This enclosed yet airy space features sliding glass windows and a retractable roof, allowing you to enjoy the sunshine, and shelter from any surprise showers.

Open from 9am daily, The Aviary begins serving food from 5pm midweek and from noon at the weekend. It’s a delightful spot to enjoy a relaxed lunch or evening bite, no matter what the sky is doing.

Guys Seafood Clifden
