Connecting People, Places and Generations: Galway Music Residency Rebrands as Music Connects
Galway Music Residency is marking a new chapter in the organisation’s journey, by officially rebranding as Music Connects.

Over the past 23 years, Galway Music Residency, home to the ConTempo Quartet, has offered countless ways for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with music. From concerts to workshops, their work has made music accessible and meaningful, regardless of circumstance.

A New Name, A Renewed Mission

Now with the name Music Connects, the org will unite music, community and place. The new name reflects its mission: to make music part of everyday life for everyone in Galway city and county, whatever their age, background or ability.

The power of connection – between people, between past and present, and between music and place – will continue to fuel Music Connects as it continues to bring the people of Galway together. The new logo resembles the Spanish Arches and the windows of St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, reflecting how tradition and innovation, community and creativity unite through music.

Bridging the gap

Over the past 22 years, MusicConnects has worked hard to develop an impressive and ever-growing suite of education and performance programmes. Making sure that under-served communities in Galway get to experience classical music in spell binding and interactive ways.

The work allows young talent to be nurtured, supports emerging artists, and collaborates across art forms to create experiences that are both meaningful and memorable. Education has always been central to the organisation’s work. With ConTempo Quartet, the organisation has been delivering free workshops to primary schools across Galway city and county, sparking early curiosity and creativity.

Music Connects is much more than a performance, its work allows world class musicians to ensure that music is a integral part of life in schools, nursing homes, community centers and public spaces. Music that moves Galway, emotionally, socially and culturally.
